LUCERNE, Calif. – The Lucerne Alpine Senior Center is hosting monthly bingo on the first Tuesday of every month.

It will be right after lunch on May 5 at 1 p.m. with 10 games for $1 per card.

There will be a 50/50 pot each game with the last game 100 percent for the winner.

There also will be a $25 gift certificate to the thrift store as a door prize.

All are welcome and check regularly for any changes in game opportunities. 

Bring your friends and the whole family to this monthly event. 

All proceeds benefit the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, a not-for-profit serving north shore senior populations with on-site lunches, Meals on Wheels, personal advocacy and other services.

The Lucerne Alpine Senior Center is located at 3985 Country Club Drive.

LAKEPORT – Do you wonder what all the fuss is about Facebook? What is Twitter and why would anyone want to send at “tweet?”

Lake County Library Director Christopher Veach is presenting a series of lectures called Social Media 101 at Lake County Library branches.

Social Media 101 covers the basics of Facebook, Twitter and other popular social media Web sites in a 30-minute presentation and then guests will have time to ask questions.

The last Social Media 101 program will be at Upper Lake Library on Saturday, May 2, from 2 to 3 p.m. at 310 Second Street.

Guests are invited to bring their own technological devices. For more information call 263-8817.

NICE, Calif. – Nice Mutual Water Co. will hold its annual shareholders meeting on Saturday, June 27.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. in the conference room at the water company headquarters, 3246 Lakeshore Blvd., Nice.

There are two director positions up for election at this time.

If you are interested in running for a director’s position and are a shareholder in the Nice Water District, submit a short candidate’s statement by May 15 to Nice Mutual Water Co.
        

LOWER LAKE, Calif. – The Lake County Democratic Central Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday, May 7.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the community meeting room at the Lower Lake Methodist Church, 16255 Second St. The map can be found at http://goo.gl/maps/A8oiW .
 
The guest speaker will be Monica Rosenthal, a candidate for the Lake County Board of Supervisors for District 1.

District 1 includes the communities of Hidden Valley Lake, Middletown, Lower Lake, Anderson Springs and portions of Cobb and the city of Clearlake.
 
The agenda for the meeting includes reports from representatives for Congressmen Mike Thompson and John Garamendi, Assemblyman Bill Dodd and state Sen. Mike McGuire, as well as reports from the representatives from the Stonewall Democratic Club Chair and the Lake County Democratic Club.

Meetings are open to the public and committee membership is open to all registered Democrats.

MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The Friends of Middletown Library group has announced the winner of its  membership drawing for a Kindle HD 6.

Cecil Anders of Cobb was the lucky winner.

The club reported that Anders has been a longtime supporter of the library.

Next up, the group will host its semiannual book sale May 16.

CLEARLAKE, Calif. – Lake County Republican Women Federated will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, May 13.

The meeting will begin at 11:30 a.m., with lunch at noon at Howard's Grotto, 14732 Lakeshore Drive in Clearlake.

Speaker Debbie Bacigalupi will discuss United Nations Agenda 21.

Bacigalupi, a sixth generation Californian, is the daughter of Siskiyou County ranchers. She attended the 2012 Rio Earth Summit+20/United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development and ran for Congress in the Bay Area in 2012.

She graduated summa cum laude from Notre Dame de Namur with a bachelor's and master's degree in business. She is known for her extensive knowledge and lively presentation.

The lunch menu choices this month are chicken wrap, filet of sole or chef salad.

The cost for lunch is $20 per person. It includes main course, coffee or tea (iced or hot); all other beverages are no host.

Reservations are required. The deadline is the Monday before the meeting.
