KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – The Pantaleon family of Kelseyville have a new daughter.

Parents Hefrain and Erika Pantaleon welcomed Xenia Leilani at 4:22 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, at Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport.

She weighed 9 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 21 and a half inches long.

Little Xenia joins older sisters Lexxi and Irene.

KELSEYVILLE, Calif. – Sons of Norway Vikings of Lake Lodge No. 6-166 will celebrate the ninth anniversary of the lodge on Sunday, Jan. 19.

The group will meet at 1 p.m. at the Galilee Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 8860 Soda Bay Road in Kelseyville.

There will be a potluck lunch and installation of 2014's officers.

They also will discuss heritage and culture events in 2014.

LUCERNE, Calif. – Lucerne Friends of Locally Owned Water – or FLOW – will next meet on Saturday, Jan. 18.

The group meets at 11:30 a.m. on the third Saturdays of the month in the Rose Room at the Lucerne Alpine Senior Center, 3985 Country Club Drive.

LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – All branches of the Lake County Library system will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 18, to observe Martin Luther King Day.

NORTH COAST – Caltrans reports that the following road projects will be taking place around the North Coast during the coming week.

Included are Mendocino County projects that may impact Lake County commuters.

LAKE COUNTY

Highway 53

– Highway widening and rehabilitation from 40th Avenue to the junction of Routes 20/53 will continue on Friday, Jan. 10. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate 10-minute delays. Contractor – Teichert Construction of Davis.

Highway 175

– AT&T of Santa Rosa has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility repairs from the Cobb Post Office to Anderson Springs Road. Work hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weekdays. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

MENDOCINO COUNTY

Highway 1

– Replacement of the Greenwood Creek Bridge will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Golden State Bridge Inc. of Martinez.

– Replacement of a culvert with a bridge at Dunn Creek will continue. One-way traffic control with a temporary signal will be in effect 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays. Contractor – Shasta Construction of Redding.

Highway 101

– Caltrans will perform slide repairs near the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (near Frog Woman Rock). Northbound traffic will be restricted to one lane 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Motorists may experience minor traffic slowdowns.

– PG&E of Eureka has been issued a Caltrans Encroachment permit for utility work at the Mignon "Minnie" Stoddard Lilley Memorial Bridge on Tuesday, Jan. 14. Work hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.. One-way traffic control will be in effect. Motorists should anticipate five-minute delays.

Work on all these projects is weather permitting and subject to change. Caltrans advises motorists to drive with caution when approaching work areas and to be prepared to stop at traffic control stations.

The Caltrans Traffic Operations Office has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The University of California Master Gardeners of Lake County are pleased to present their annual pruning workshops.

Workshop dates for fruit tree pruning include a classroom session at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Agricultural Center, 883 Lakeport Blvd., Lakeport, followed by an onsite demonstration on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Both these sessions will be repeated on Thursday, Jan. 16, and Wednesday, Jan. 22.

A rose pruning demonstration will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29, and a grape pruning demonstration on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

A $5 fee is requested to cover the cost of handouts.
