LAKE COUNTY, Calif. – In January, the California Rural Home Mortgage Finance Authority – or CRHMFA Homebuyers Fund (CHF) – Board of Directors voted to officially change the authority’s name to Golden State Finance Authority (GSFA).

The name change, which is effective immediately, is part of a rebranding initiative to better align the Authority’s name with its current and future business strategy and product offerings.

What began in 1993 as a rural resident homebuyer assistance program in 11 California counties has expanded to financial assistance programs for both homebuyers and homeowners throughout California, with plans to further support local economies in the future.

The organization’s broad mission remains the same, providing programs that support affordable homeownership in California.

“GSFA’s passion is helping to build strong communities through homeownership and support of local economies,” said Greg Norton, Executive Director for GSFA. “Our new name will reflect our organization’s commitment to offering innovative and valuable programs that go well beyond our initial vision.”

The authority’s name change is far reaching, and will be phased in across all aspects of the business over the next few months.

GSFA customers and business partners can continue to expect the high quality of service they are familiar with during this transition.

GSFA has distinguished itself as a leader in housing finance in California, helping more than 47,300 individuals and families purchase a home.

The authority has gifted more than $57.6 million in down payment assistance grants and helped more than 1,275 homeowners to make energy efficiency upgrades to their properties.
