MIDDLETOWN, Calif. – The Acme Foundation will hold its 16th anniversary Celebration of Caring fundraiser on Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Twin Pine Casino and Hotel Event Center.

The fundraiser is $35 per person and will include music by John Zimmerman and a champagne
lunch.

To attend prepaid reservations are required by Sept. 1. No reservations will be taken at the door.

A silent auction and Disney ticket raffle will be held. The lucky winner will win four tickets to Disneyland and the California Adventure, as well as four tickets to the Disney Museum.

Tickets for the raffle are $5 each or six for $20 and ticket holders do not need to be present at the fundraiser to win.

The Acme Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides monetary support to low-income seniors and the disabled in Lake County.

One hundred percent of all net proceeds go to qualified grant recipients.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – Lakeport Public Works reported that road closures on certain city streets are planned on Monday, Aug. 11, and Tuesday, Aug. 12.

The closures will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on N. Brush Street from Fourth to Sixth streets and on Fifth Street from N. High to N. Tunis streets.

Road closures and traffic controls will be in place while this work is being completed.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and please use caution when traveling in the area or whenever possible to use alternate routes.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Senior Activity Center will hold its second annual “Hot August Nites” dinner and dance fundraiser on Friday, Aug. 15.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m.

Evening highlights will include music from the LC Diamonds, burgers and hot dogs, a full bar, raffle, door prizes, silent auction, photo booth, celebrity impersonators and much more.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Soper Reese Theatre will feature “Dr. No” during its Classic Movie Series on Tuesday, Aug. 12.

For the matinée showings, doors open at 12:30 p.m., with the shows starting at 1 p.m.

For the evening showings, doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the films starting at 6 p.m.

Donations are gratefully accepted.

Popcorn, candy, soda, water and coffee will be available for purchase.

The Soper Reese Theatre, located at 275 St. Main St. in Lakeport, is a restored, historic, performing arts venue established in 1949 and seating 300 patrons.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Fair Board will meet on Monday, Aug. 18.

The meeting will begin at 4:45 p.m. at the administration office at the Lake County Fairgrounds, 401 Martin St., Lakeport.

Information and discussion items include this year's Lake County Fair, the opening parade, fair time board meetings, box seating, the blue ribbon dinner and the volunteer appreciation dinner.

There also will be committee reports, the financial report on the spring fair and the September calendar of events.

Fair board directors include President Marcia Chauvin, Vice President Doug Rhoades, Janeane Bogner, Carol Brandt, Sham Cochrane, Annette Hopkins, Meyo Marrufo and Jerry McQueen.

LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lake County Passion Play is holding its annual fundraiser dinner and auction on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The event will be held in the fancy barn at Rancho De La Fuente, 2290 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport.

Join them for a  low-country lobster/clam bake including steamed potatoes and corn on the cob. Bibs will be provided.

The meal – from salad through dessert – will be accompanied by favorite tunes played by locally renowned pianist David Neft.  

The no-host bar opens at 4 p.m. with dinner served at 5 p.m. and live auction to immediately follow. There also will be a silent auction.

Tickets cost $50 per person. Seating is limited so hurry to reserve your spot at the table.
