CLEARLAKE, Calif. – The Redbud branch of the Lake County Library will present a free introduction to “Zentangle Drawing in Black and White” with Jan Cook at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9.

The library is located at 14785 Burns Valley Road in Clearlake.

Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas, the founders of the Zentangle Company, describe Zentangle as “a form of artistic meditation through a very specific method of deliberate intention that produces non-objective drawings composed of patterns called tangles that can be viewed from all four sides. Zentangle is about process, not outcome.”

A classic Zentangle is done in black ink on a small white card called a tile, but Zentangle-inspired art, ZIA for short, adapts the Zentangle techniques to other art forms. People who “aren’t good at art” can enjoy Zentangle.

The library will supply blank cards and pencils for the class. Patrons can bring their own art pens, gel pens or rollerball pens and Zentangle tiles if they want to.

For a list of suggested supplies and sources contact the library. For more information call 707-263-8817.
