LAKEPORT, Calif. – The Lakeport Women’s Civic Club presented a $1,000 check on Tuesday, April 21, to the Lakeport Senior Activity Center to help it distribute food and support the many seniors who are relying on them at this time.

This is phase one of the effort as individuals from the club are also making contributions for a secondary donation.

LWCC, like so many other clubs and organizations, has had to cancel meetings and events in an effort to contain the COVID-19 outbreak and help save the many lives threatened by this unforgiving disease.

Group members were very disappointed to have to cancel their 27th annual Mad Hatter’s Luncheon and Fashion Show that had been scheduled for May 9 at Boutique Winery.

The luncheon is the group’s largest fundraiser of the year and helps to provide many of the funds that the club then donates to important organizations and community agencies that support and enhance life in Lake County.

Many of the donations that were solicited by ladies of the club for this event have been returned and they are very happy to say that many have been left with them to help continue their work, providing assistance where and when it is needed.

If you are interested in getting to know this busy, talented, energetic group of ladies, whose many hands make the events and activities that they are responsible for such a pleasure to be a part of, then you might like to join them for lunch at Riviera Hills Country Club Restaurant, where they meet on the first Friday of every month except July and August.

The group’s next meeting, and beginning of the new season, will be on Sept. 4 at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch and an engaging speaker.

If you are interested in attending please call Julie Hernaez at 707-279-2625.
